FOR many keen hunting enthusiasts, the hound parade in the Main Arena on Sunday afternoon is the high point of the Dublin Horse Show. This year the honour fell to the famed Scarteen Hounds and they were not found wanting.

Led by huntsman Hughie Ryan, still in his first season, the twelve and a half couple looked a picture. Great credit for the turnout of the hounds must go to Nadaline Webster and Paul Collins, both present in the arena on the day.

Assisting in the arena were Joint-Masters Jake Murphy and Shane Breen who had swapped his international show jumping jacket for the hunt livery. Shane was riding a smashing grey who earlier in the day had won the Working Hunter Championship.

Also mounted were whippers-in Frisk Jones and the Olympian Michael Ryan who is Hughie’s brother.

Paul Nolan’s commentary on the personnel and hunt history was well received by an appreciative audience.
