LAST Thursday week was a red-letter day for Jack Martin, a former member of the Meath Branch of The Irish Pony Club, as he recorded his first win on the racecourse when the 13/2 shot Comeonarchie landed division two of the concluding three-mile handicap hurdle in Punchestown.
Jack was an active member of the Meaths from the age of nine up to his mid to late teens, being particularly keen on mounted games (he represented the IPC on trips to Britain) and eventing. The 24-year-old, who rides as an amateur, works mornings at the Gavin Cromwell yard and in the afternoons for Hand and Joe Rogers.
