KILDALTON celebrated an incredible 50 years in education as a working college by hosting a very successful family open day last Saturday.

From historical talks and walks, there was equine and agricultural demonstrations as well as wonderful kidz zoon entertainment, food and free admission.

Visitors enjoyed demonstrations featuring the main equestrian disciplines of eventing, dressage, show jumping and side saddle.

Faith Ponsonby, a wonderful narrator, spoke of the history of the side saddle and the riding habits. The five participating side saddle riders - Rosey Caplice, Olivia and Nicola Connolly, Amanda Power and Clara Cully - all performed a different display, wearing their very different riding habits.

Meath’s Clara Cully wore her full communion attire while riding Inspector Bob (21), safely over a round of show jumps to the cheers of the crowd.
