Its not often that two people who hunt hounds get engaged. But Clark’s Bar in Mullingar was heaving with the large turnout of family and hunt supporters for the engagement of Niall Mahon, the huntsman of the Westmeath Foxhounds, to Ciara Lyons, who herself hunts with the Westmeath Harriers. It will probably ensure harmony in the hunting country, and provide the next generation of hunt staff for the Westmeath hunt. The happy couple plan to marry sometime after the end of the hunting next year.
