LAST Sunday’s ‘Jump For Dawn’ show which was hosted by Orla Roche and Pat Peare at Wexford Equestrian, and supported by the Killinick Branch of the Irish Pony Club, proved a huge success.

At time of writing, €7,800 had been raised to help popular Pony Club coach, wife and mother of four Dawn Ward in her battle against cervical cancer with the funds being used to provide her with immediate Dendritic Cell Therapy.

Hannah Wood’s day armed with her horse clippers raised €650, the raffle plus bring and buy sale brought in €1,760 while show entries and donations from across the horse world amounted to €5,390.

A Go Fund Me page to help Dawn has been set up by her siblings Tonya, Rachel and Ken who were at Sunday’s show where Rachel, who rides very little these days, borrowed a pony to compete in the 70cms class. Her fist pumps after jumping a clear round rivalled those of an Olympic gold medal winner!

Following the show, Dawn’s husband Dara posted the following on Facebook: “On behalf of Dawn, myself and our family, I just want to thank each and every person that played any part in today’s AMAZING event. Words are simply not enough. Thank you everyone for the kind words, the support, the donations and giving of your valuable time and a special thanks to Orla and Pat for so generously facilitating today. We are very humbled and eternally grateful.”
