CARRICKROCK Close Shave, sire of Oscar - one of An Garda Siochana Mounted Unit’s Draughts in the ‘Jerusalema’ viral video - died on Easter Sunday evening. Bred by Viona Wilson, the Foxglen Himself stallion was bought as a two-year-old colt by the late Martin Donnellan, who bred both Oscar and another of ‘Carrickrock’s offspring: Tom Burke’s Class 1 stallion Castlegar Rock, and stood at Martin’s Ballygill Stud in Ballinasloe for the next 23 years.
