WHILE we have mentioned many of the country’s young riders in other pages of the paper this week, one we haven’t refereed to is Chloe Salley as she has mainly been campaigning on the British showing circuit this season.

True, the 14-year-old did compete at the recent Irish Pony Society’s Kildare/North Leinster Area spring show at Killossery Lodge Stud. There she won the Under 16 ridden Connemara class on the four-year-old 148cms Longstone Silver Shadow mare Longstone Beauty who was making her debut under saddle.

Before then, when many IPS members were attending the Northern Ireland Festival in Cavan, Chloe was competing at the British Show Pony Society winter championships in Grantham where she won the novice 138cms show pony class on Stanley Grange Crescendo. This five-year-old by Turberry Top Cat out of the famed Colbeach Duet, who is in his first season under saddle, went on to be crowned overall novice show pony champion.

Stanley Grange Crescendo is being produced in England by Gill Thompson who also has charge of Chloe’s 143cms show hunter pony, Goldengrove Charisma. This Irish-bred five-year-old by Goldengrove Star Struck is out of the former top Anglo/Part Arab show mare, Tyrdulais Lady In Waiting.
