DONAL O’Beirne has come up with a very unique way of keeping the memory of the late great Tiggy Hancock to the fore of the eventing and equestrian community.

With the blessing of Tiggy’s mother Jane, Donal has kitted his truck out with eye-catching images of Tiggy in action, supported by images and quotes of some top Irish event riders.

The ‘Tiggy’s Travels’ truck had its inaugural outing recently where it was very well received at Cooley Farm.

“Tiggy and I were very close. She would always come to my truck at the various events I was at and walk my dog Scruffy Joe at the show for me. She was such a delightful girl. I was trying to think of ways to always bring Tiggy to the shows still and thought of putting her photos front and back and also some images of our top event riders in action – namely Sarah Ennis – on my 10-metre long truck and there is a lovely quote about Tiggy from Sarah also carried on the truck.

“I had an operation in June for prostrate cancer and got the all-clear last month and decided to just get going on it so the ‘Tiggy’s Travels’ truck had its first outing there and was very well received.

“The idea is that Tiggy is now coming with me and Scruffy to all the shows. She was so nice, a gorgeous girl and everyone loved her. She saw our top event riders as her heroes but she was their hero as well.

“I asked Jane about the idea first and she was delighted, she was all for it and all the kids who saw the truck so far are delighted as well. It’s only a little thing but Tiggy is coming with us, she is still with us at the shows,” said Donal.

While Donal plans to be taking his Innovations truck to EI fixtures etc as usual, if there is an event that people would like him to attend over the coming weeks, drop him an email at info@hoofprints.ie.
