ORAN McGill came out on top in a thrilling battle of the McGill siblings in the featured novice rider open lightweight at Tattersalls, which saw the brothers locked in battle up the home straight, as the 22-year-old’s mount Marinero (5/1) just managed to get the better of the exchanges to beat his younger brother Dara and Brain Power in the process.

Much of the card’s focus had revolved around the pointing debut of Brain Power, the winner of the 2019 Grade 1 American National in Far Hills on his penultimate start, and the 10-year-old had come through to lead heading out on the final circuit, where aided by some electric leaps, he was able to extend his advantage.
