COLIN Bowe’s recent stranglehold on the four-year-old division continued with a one-two for his stable at Ballycrystal with Sleeping Satellite (92+) prevailing under a confident Barry O’Neill.
The pair had led away from the tapes. With a strong early gallop being set over the opening two fences, the reigning champion was happy to take a pull and drop into fifth after the first bend.
With the good tempo continuing, resulting in a time 13 seconds quicker than any other race on the card, O’Neill steadily re-introduced his mount into the race, throwing down his challenge from the second last to ultimately win going away.
Ifeoinly (96) took a notable step forward, aided by an excellent Brian Lawless ride which saw him use all his extra track knowledge, as the pair got first run on their two more proven rival as the mares’ open division looks more and more unpredictable.
Track position was also advantageous for Well P (87+) who held off the fast-finishing Blue Fin. Rock The Hill (78+) got the better of two proven rivals which adds a creditable level of depth to her performance and track success should certainly follow for her.
