YOU’RE at Cheltenham and so far you’re ahead of the bookies. Before you lose it all on the next race, give yourself a break and head over to the shopping village. No, you have enough, bags, shoes, coats and jumpers! Why not treat yourself to something special that will see you out, give pleasure to your descendants and remain beautiful long after the moths have eaten your cashmere jumpers.

Heroes

Longstanding artist in residence at the Curragh, John Fitzgerald has approximately 20 paintings and five new sculptures on show - wonderful studies of the equine heroes doing all the hard work out on the track.

Call in and take a look. You can always commission your own piece from John if you have something in mind. You won’t regret it.

TG4 teeing up for Cotswold coverage

TG4 is screening its annual preview of the Cheltenham Festival tonight at 9.35pm.

The 30-minute magazine style preview, presented by Denis Kirwan, will be repeated on TG4 on the night before the festival opening this Monday, March 14th, at 9pm.

The Cheltenham preview programme, produced by Touchline Media, features an interview with last year’s leading rider, Rachael Blackmore, and stable visits to two of the principal Irish trainers: Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott.

The programme also features trainers Peter Fahey, Ross O’Sullivan and John McConnell, who head for the Cotswolds with hopes of festival glory.

The TG4 preview provides a selection of festival tips from jockeys, trainers and racing journalists.
