FINAL year Equine Business Degree students of Maynooth University raised over €3,000 for the Irish Horse Welfare Trust last Saturday.

The charity event saw 18 students divided into three groups and they ran 103km between them on the Curragh Racecourse, Naas Racecourse and Punchestown Racecourse.

The fundraiser was part of the students’ Race Day and Equine Event Management module and, so far, it has raised €3,325 for the IHWT. University lecturer Sheena Hopper was in touch to say that the students want to thank everyone who donated and the racecourses for supporting their initiative.

The proceeds will help the IHWT pay for much needed upgrading to fencing at its facility in Wicklow.

The students are leaving the donation page open until before Christmas and welcome any other donations.
