AFTER a sterling success last year, racing fan and Naas stalwart Simon Malley is limbering up for another marathon wheelchair push this June 1st-30th.
Last year Simon undertook a sponsored wheelchair push to raise funds for Aware with a grand finale at St David’s Church of Ireland church in Naas on the afternoon of June 30th.
Last year being a lockdown year and being restricted to a 5km radius, Simon was challenged with how many kilometres he could do in his wheelchair in a month without leaving his 5km restriction.
Setting himself an initial goal of 200km, he beat that target handsomely pushing over 1,000kms, raising almost €3,000.
After his superb effort, Simon spoke about his achievement: “With everything that has happened over this last year I wanted to make people aware of the great work and help that is available through the work of Aware.” He also thanked everyone who had given him so much support and encouragement.
As time draws nearer to this year’s push off, Simon will organise the Just giving page and Facebook updates, so watch this space.
