TODAY Shane O’Dwyer, CEO of the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, is on his last day of a three-day bike ride in Westport over 400km. Shane and friends are cycling in support of CROSS Cancer Research which Shane does in memory of his and his wife Orla’s son Cillian.

Now in its eighth year, the cycle has raised approximately €720,000 for CROSS charity and cancer research in St James’s Hospital and Trinity College Dublin. Funds raised have enabled the purchase of crucially important equipment which have been used by over 60 researchers working in a number of cancer types, led by Professor John Reynolds.
