PUT Monday, August 18th in your diary.
That’s the date for this year’s Hurling for Cancer match at Netwatch Dr Cullen Park in Carlow. Throw-in is at the later time of 7.30pm.
Set up by Jim Bolger and Davy Russell, the event is a big fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society. The teams are filled with well-known racing and GAA personalities, with a few surprise guests from the sporting and media worlds.
Centra is on board as the main sponsor for the night, which has raised close to €2 million since the first sliotar was pucked in 2012.
The fact that Jim Bolger’s horses have hit form in the past week could be a good omen for his side. No doubt Jim will be in Croke Park on Sunday to see if any of the Kilkenny team is good enough to make the cut for his all-star line-up.
Tickets (€10 adults, €5 children) are now available on the cancer.ie website or from selected Centra/SuperValu stores.
