LAST Wednesday a record 526 primary school pupils from all parts of Kildare descended on the Curragh Racecourse for the annual Go Racing Kids Club Day. The initiative was setup in 2010 by Horse Racing Ireland to promote greater integration between racecourses and their local community.

There were five different stations set up to entertain students. This included meeting trainer Richard Brabazon and his filly Placere to discuss the training process. They then met jockey coach, Warren O’Connor. RACE representatives then showed the students their state of the art horse simulator and it was without a doubt the most popular part of the day with some of the students even getting a turn on it.
