CAMBRIDGE sculptor Edward Waites thinks nothing of handling over a ton of plasticine although it might trouble a whole tribe of children. This is the first step in the making of his monumental horse head, which he will be exhibiting at the Chelsea Flower Show and Royal Ascot.

“Once I find a buyer it will be turned into bronze,” says Edward (27). “The head is over 1.3 tons of plasticine on a steel armature and has taken five months so far to create.”
