CHELTENHAM bumper winner A Dream To Share was roared home by many punters, and also cheering from home was Edie Murray-Hayden of Gormanstown Stud in Kilcullen, Co Kildare.

A renowned producer of both thoroughbreds and sport horses, Edie had A Dream To Share at various stages of his life.

Edie told us: “I have kept horses for Brian Gleeson and family over the years. A Dream To Share arrived here as a weanling as he wasn’t deemed suitable for the sales at that stage.

“I broke him, cantered him, and had him until March of his two-year-old career. He holidayed here too, including after his Roscommon bumper win last June. I got some fitness work into him before he returned to John Kiely last November.”

Going racing is rare for Edie, who works on her own and has all sorts of horses to look after for clients and for herself. “I prefer to watch on television but I can tell you I have felt A Dream To Share’s power!”

He is not the first Cheltenham winner Edie has handled. “With some friends, I bought and sold Black Hercules to Patrick Mullins. He also won a Grade 1 race at Cheltenham, so I have been very lucky. Approve and Sir Prancealot would be the two best-known flat horses I have had.”
