LAST week’s Racing For A Reason charity auction, hosted by ThoroughBid, raised almost £70,000, to be divided equally between the Irish Cancer Society and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Organised by Simon Besanson, the auction consisted of 130 lots, mainly stallion nominations and private visits to training yards.

Some nominations went for as little as £125 while others fetched as much as £3,500.

One bidder successfully paid £700 for a morning for four on the gallops with Willie Mullins.
