1.10 Paddy’s Rewards Club Chase (Grade 1) 2m 1f

Battleoverdoyen: Very smart sort at his best and is a former top-level winner over both hurdles and fences. However, he hasn’t been at his best this year and a confidence-boosting victory over two miles and six furlongs at the Galway Festival last time out is a long way short of what is needed here.

Chacun Pour Soi: Brilliant two-miler on his day as he showed on a couple of occasions over this course and distance last term as well as his annihilation of a good field at the Punchestown Festival. However, he was a major disappointment on his comeback in the Tingle Creek earlier this month. He can show that to be all wrong.

Envoi Allen: Flawless earlier in his career when he won his first 11 starts on the track but things have gone awry since a fall at Cheltenham in March. A comeback Grade 2 win at Down Royal was encouraging but a defeat in the John Durkan Chase several weeks ago raised more questions and he is not looking like the force of old at present.

Sizing Pottsie: Very smart on his day as he showed when winning well off a mark of 149 in a Grade B handicap chase at Fairyhouse a year ago. Didn’t run at all badly when third to Energumene on his comeback at Cork but he still lies some way off the required standard here.

Conclusion

Chacun Pour Soi ran way below his best at Sandown on his comeback but his previous form marks him out as a two-miler of the highest quality and this course and distance brings out the best in him.
