Trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Jack Kennedy successfully appealed against the penalties handed out to them by the Down Royal stewards following a race on November 4th.

The local stewards found the pair in breach of Rule 212A (ii), which relates to "non-triers", when Suitor finished third, beaten 18 and a half lengths, in a two-mile maiden hurdle.

Elliott was fined €2,000, while Kennedy received a five-day suspension. Suitor was also prohibited from running for 42 days, but all penalties were quashed at an appeal hearing on Monday morning.

The Appeals Committee heard two other cases on Monday morning. Yorkshire-based trainer David O'Meara lost his appeal against the decision of the Leopardstown stewards on October 28th to demote his Knockaire Stakes winner Larchmont Lad to second place due to 'intimidation'.

Jockey Danny Mullins also lost his appeal against a five-day suspension (and forfeited riding fee) which he received following his ride on the unplaced Omega Springs at Thurles on November 9th. However, the €2,000 fine imposed on the horse's trainer Liam Casey, and the 42-day ban on the horse, were lifted by the Appeals Panel.
