THERE were a lot of smart young horses in action at Glenpatrick on Saturday, most notably Graf Mesmeric who, making his Eventing Ireland debut, completed on his winning dressage score of 26.8 penalties in the EI 100 class.

Ridden by Colin Halliday for Sandra Hamilton, the five-year-old Mermus R gelding was bred in Co Down by Brian Livingstone out of the Limmerick mare Graf Landlady who did a small amount of jumping as a five and six-year-old. The dam’s first foal, Graf Balouprint (a 2009 mare by Balou Du Rouet) represented the Irish Sport Horse Studbook at Lanaken in 2014.
