TRIPLE Olympic gold medallist Richard Meade has died at the age of 76 after losing his battle with cancer. Meade won eventing team golds with Britain at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico and in Munich in 1972, as well as claiming individual gold in Munich on Laurieston. His three golds made him the most successful British Olympic three-day eventer of all time. He was also part of the victorious British team at the world championships in 1970 and 1982 and three European titles in 1967, 1969 and 1981.

As an individual he won Badminton Horse Trials in 1970 and 1982 and the Burghley Horse Trials in 1964.
