THE thing about horses, and anything to do with them, is that you can experience just about every emotion known to humankind. The joys of winning and celebrating are powerful emotions, spurring us all on at times to continue to do what we do. These highs are necessary now and again.

We also know the feelings of anticipation, wondering if the new-born foal will become a champion or, failing that, at least to pay its way. The nervous days and weeks leading up to sale time, hoping that all the stars align and result in a profitable transaction. The uptight feeling watching your runner in the parade ring, and wondering if you will be back there to lead in a winner.
