TIGGY’S Trust has launched its rider development programme for the upcoming Scone Palace International Horse Trials, which will take place from August 21-24th 2025 on the historic grounds of Scone Palace and Perth Racecourse in Scotland.

Tiggy’s Trust will be taking young riders to compete in the FEI pony 2* eventing team competition; the FEI Intro and also the Pony Club Games competition.

“The Trust has been taking young event riders to Blair International since 2022 and built up an exciting and competitive challenge with the British pony teams and are thrilled that Scone and British Eventing youth are keen to keep the challenge alive. The aim of the Trust has been to give young riders the chance to travel and compete abroad and to foster team spirit and international camaraderie in a supportive environment. Following riders as they move up the ranks and seeing the friendships that they have forged has been so rewarding for the Trust,” said Jane Hancock.

The Pony Club games teams come together from all over Ireland so this adds a further dimension given that their opponents include teams that have worked together all year and several have qualified for the Prince Philip team competition at HOYS. It makes for an exhilarating competition with their eventing counterparts cheering them on.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Scone Palace, the event will not only host the Scottish Eventing Championships but also various showing and show jumping championships.

Expressions of interest

Tiggy’s Trust is now inviting expressions of interest from eligible riders for both the eventing and Pony Club games teams. Priority will be given to riders who have never travelled and to those in their final year on their ponies.

As part of the development programme, Tiggy’s Trust will provide selected riders with comprehensive preparation, including a two-day training camp on August 12th and 13th at Punchestown. This will offer dressage and show jumping training for eventers and team training for the mounted games players.

Riders will be assisted on their international travel planning, alongside talks on sports psychology and the special requirements for travelling ponies focussing on stable management, pony care, feeding and welfare.

Throughout the summer there will also be fortnightly show jumping training for the eventers at Killossery Lodge with Heather Coyle. These lessons will focus on technical, up-to-height show jumping in anticipation of the demanding tracks at the Scottish Championships.

To express interest in being part of this exciting international opportunity, riders are encouraged to submit an expression of interest via the Tiggy Trust website (www.tiggystrust.com). For additional information contact tiggystrust@gmail.com.
