TATTERSALLS Ireland will host a ‘Cheltenham’ sale of approximately 20 point-to-pointers next Friday in Fairyhouse and, while the horses will be in the sales ring, purchasers must make an appointment now to inspect the horses in advance as they cannot attend the sale in person.

Matt Mitchell, CEO of Tattersalls Ireland, said: “Our protocols are very much aligned with the way in which livestock marts operate. Vendors can bring horses to us and we will have vets here to inspect them, as normal. A video of each horse and a vets’ certificates will be posted on our website.

“The first hurdle to be cleared by prospective purchasers is to fill in the medical form on our website. Then you need to make an appointment with us to view the horses here. Purchasers cannot be on-site for the sale itself. The sale will be broadcast live online and bids can be made either through our LiveBid internet platform or by phone.”

Mitchell says the small catalogue allowed Tattersalls Ireland to have horses on-site. He added: “English-based buyers have probably seen a lot of these horses as stores and they can also ask someone they trust in Ireland to come and look at them.” The initial entries include:

Carrols Cottage, 4yo g. by Mahler, winner at Dromahane, consigned by Philip Fenton.

Gallow Ford, 5yo g. by Westerner, two wins, consigned by Colin Bowe.
