Return of AIRO awards

THE Irish Field is jointly sponsoring two awards ceremonies for racehorse owners in the coming weeks.

With support also from Horse Racing Ireland and the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, the Association of Irish Racehorse Owners will present a total of 16 awards at Naas Racecourse on October 31st and at Punchestown on December 5th.

Naas Racecourse will host the flat awards event, which will include presentations to the owners of ‘value’ purchases, a ‘dream’ horse, and to members of a successful racing club.

A similar set of award for owners of National Hunt horses will be presented at the Punchestown event.

Regina Byrne, AIRO manager, said: “Having been unable to present awards in 2020, we are very happy to be in a position to recognise the achievements of Irish racehorse owners through these events at Naas and Punchestown. Thanks to all our sponsors for their loyalty and support.”

Mark Costello, general manager of The Irish Field, commented: “Racehorse owners at all levels are among our core readers and we are delighted to have the opportunity to show our appreciation by supporting these awards. Without owners to pay the bills, there would be no racing.”
