RACEHORSES are getting quicker, according to a new study by race enthusiast Patrick Sharman of Exeter University and Alastair J. Wilson, who have published their finding in the Royal Society journal Biology Letters. These finding go against the general consensus among scientists and in the racing industry that racehorse speed has plateaued.

However, more work is necessary in order to determine whether the increased speeds, largely driven by sprinters, are due to breeding techniques or changes in training and riding techniques.
