THE unbeaten One For Bobby is among 16 entries for next Wednesday’s Al Shira’aa Racing EBF Naas Oaks Trial at Naas. Trained by Johnny Murtagh for Frank Dunne and Ann Marshall, the three-year-old is a daughter of Frankel and Naas listed race winner One Spirit. She has raced twice, both times at Gowran Park, and won well each time.

Al Shira’aa Racing is a new sponsor of the race and there is increased prize money on offer, up €5,000 to €52,500.

Al Shira’aa Racing is headed by Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and managed by Kieran Lalor.

Meadow Court Stud, which was purchased by Al Shira’aa in 2016, is now the base for the Irish company’s breeding operation. The stud has a storied history in thoroughbred racing, having been established by Paddy ‘Darkie’ Prendergast and named after his 1965 Irish Derby winner.

Kieran Lalor is a native of Naas, who spent 20 years working in the thoroughbred industry in Kentucky before taking up the role as general manager of Al Shira’aa Racing and Meadow Court Stud.

Al Shira’aa Racing has horses in training in the USA, France and in Ireland with Ger Lyons and Willie McCreery, and has enjoyed major international success with Mutamakina, the Grade 1 E.P. Taylor Stakes winner at Woodbine last October, Rumi, a dual group winner in France, and Jannah Flower, a listed race winner in France last month.
