THE Northern Ireland Horse Board announced its fee structure for 2023, with immediate effect.

“Whilst the Board of Directors of the Northern Ireland Horse Board send compliments of the season to all their shareholders, The Meadows-based society wish to announce their 2023 fees. As always, NIHB remain committed to offering value for money for their membership as well as continuing to improve the services provided by our office. The Northern Ireland Horse Board are here to help all breeders. NIHB Membership fees are £30 if paid online and £35 if not, up until 31st May 2023, after this date, prices will increase by £5.

“The only passport that cannot be issued by the Northern Ireland Horse Board is those that record a full pedigree. However, negotiations are continuing with the Northern Ireland Department for Agriculture, and it is hoped to bring this matter to resolution soon. All the horses that are registered, over stamped or endorsed by the Northern Ireland Horse Board are also added to the UK Central Equine Database to improve traceability of movement and welfare of horses,” said a press release from the NIHB.

The Northern Ireland Horse Board stated it successfully rolled out initiatives to assist breeders and horse owners throughout Ireland in 2022, including:

  • Relaunching the NIHB Orphan Foal and Foster Mare scheme, supported by Baileys Horse Feeds
  • Digitisation of the NIHB Passport Application, which now includes digital drawings enabling a fully digital service.
  • Launching Equine Trace NI, an equine tracing service for the emergency services and local government representatives.
  • Offering an express service that sees passports available in as little as 30 minutes.
