IRISH dressage team rider Sorrell Klatzko has welcomed 11-year-old British Hanoverian Grand Prix horse Rock My Heart EA to her yard calling him “her new heart-throb”.

Rock My Heart EA is by Royal Classic out of Walentyna (Weltruhm x Donnerhall x Magnum) and owned by his breeder, Elisabeth Ahn-Ballies.

His career began over coloured poles with Stephan Dubsky before he moved into dressage, most recently under Ingeborg Galow, who rode him in his first S***-Grand Prix level tests.

“I have always followed him, I’ve always loved him. Every time there was a chance I asked and she (owner, Elisabeth) always said no. He’s been so beautifully trained, always classical, always correct,” Klatzko told Eurodressage.

“One year later she called me and asked if I was still interested in her beautiful boy. Of course I was. I tried him and I fell completely in love and he loves me. It’s an interesting combination, so let’s see. I’m feeling very lucky today.”

Speaking to The Irish Field, Klatzko said: “I am enjoying getting to know Rock and working on our partnership and fine tuning everything together! He has a lovely work ethic and tries his heart out, which makes each ride so rewarding. Our plans are to compete first nationally, with the aim to progress to the international circuit. “
