LOS Angeles, an unbeaten Group 1-winning two-year-old and classic-winning three-year-old by European champion sire Camelot, will stand under the Coolmore National Hunt banner at Castlehyde Stud for 2026.
A winner on debut at Tipperary, he progressed quickly at two to capture the Group 1 Critérium de Saint-Cloud. At three, he won the Group 3 Derby Trial at Leopardstown before finishing third to City Of Troy in the Epsom Derby and later produced a decisive display to win the Group 1 Irish Derby.
He added a win in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York before running third behind Bluestocking in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe which saw a 1-3-5 finish for his sire Camelot.
This year he defeated White Birch in the Group 2 Mooresbridge Stakes before seeing off Champion Stakes winner Anmaat in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup, run in the fastest time recorded since the race adopted its current distance.
“Los Angeles is a good, hardy, tough horse and he’s at his best when the pace is on – no horse likes a fight more than him,” said Aidan O’Brien after the Tattersalls Gold Cup. “It’s hard to believe how big and powerful he is until you stand beside him and he has an incredible mind, he’s so relaxed.”
’Exceptional physical’
He’s an exceptional physical with great bone and depth,” said Cathal Murphy of Castlehyde Stud.
“He brings classic performance and stamina from the Montjeu sireline of leading National Hunt influences Walk In The Park and Authorized, and from one of the strongest families in the studbook; that of Galileo, Sea The Stars and Santiago. Los Angeles was as genuine and uncomplicated as they come, and I think he will tick a lot of boxes for National Hunt breeders.”
A fee for Los Angeles will be announced in due course.
