DUAL Group 1 winner Saffron Beach is to be offered at the forthcoming Tattersalls December Mares Sale. Winner of the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes and Group 1 Prix Rothschild and runner up in the 1000 Guineas and Group 1 Matron Stakes, Saffron Beach is trained by Jane Chapple-Hyam for owners Lucy Sangster, James Wigan and Ollie Sangster.

THERE will be one more horse and pony racing fixture this year after all. The remainder of the season was cancelled in the aftermath of Jack de Bromhead’s fatal accident earlier this month. However, this week a spokesperson for the sport said: “After consultation with the de Bromhead family, we will run a final meeting of 2022 in Borris, Co Carlow, on Sunday. October 2nd, so that Jack’s legacy lives on through his wonderful racing community, jockeys and friends.”

Flightline best in world

BAAEED has been headed at the top of the World’s Best Racehorse Rankings by Flightline. The recent 19-length winner of the Grade 1 Pacific Classic has been given an official rating of 139, 4lb clear of Baaeed. Flightline’s rating is just 1lb below Frankel’s 140 figure of 10 years ago.

Royal Kahala selling at Goffs

THE Grade 2 and Grade 3 hurdle race winner Royal Kahala will be offered for sale at this year’s Goffs December National Hunt Sale. Trained by Peter Fahey for the Winning Ways Syndicate, Royal Kahala (by Flemensfirth) won the Grade 2 John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle in January at Gowran Park. The seven-year-old will be offered in foal to Crystal Ocean.
