Jockeys injured in Sligo race
JUMP jockeys Dylan Robinson and Ambrose McCurtin are recovering from injuries they sustained in a fall at Sligo Racecourse this week.
Robinson fractured his forearm and, having required surgery, he will be on the sidelines for eight to 10 weeks. McCurtin sustained a neck injury but, according to IHRB senior medical officer Dr Jennifer Pugh, “This is being treated conservatively without the need for surgery.” He is expected to make a full recovery in three to four months.
Champion lady rider Toni Quail suffered a similar injury at Punchestown on Sunday. See page 26 for more details.
Dr Pugh expressed her thanks to the racecourse medical teams and hospital staff who treated the riders.
