Stallion EVA vaccine

is in short supply

THE Department of Agriculture is advising breeders there is a shortage of the only licensed vaccine in Europe for protection against Equine Viral Arteritis.

Manufacturers Zoetis says the current batch of Equip Artervac will expire on March 29th and no new batch of the vaccine is expected to be available again until autumn.

The owners of all vaccinated stallions and teasers are strongly encouraged to submit surveillance serum samples at minimum six-month intervals to the Department’s Central Veterinary Research Laboratory Virology Division at Backweston, Celbridge, Co Kildare.
