Connie Hannaway RIP

THERE was much shock and sadness at the sudden death this week of Connie Hannaway, a member of the Eventing Ireland Northern Region. Posting on social media with the blessing of her family, Dora Beacom extended sincere condolences to her mother, Nora, and the entire family circle at this very sad time.

“Connie’s passion for her own horses and those she rode for other people was tangible. She never shied away from the more difficult ones and took great pride in their progress, trying different techniques as necessary.

“She loved her cross-country and always bounded into the office with super gusto to collect her numbers, regaling me about something that had happened during the week. She was always accompanied by Nora who drove her all over the country and shared her affection and fervour for the sport. Connie was also involved in show jumping and racing, loving everything equestrian in equal measure.

“She should have had her whole life ahead of her - a life full of dreams and aspirations but, sadly, that was not meant to be. The death of someone so young is difficult at any time but none more so than during Christmas week when we imagine families spending fun time together. Our thoughts now turn to Nora and the entire family circle whom we envelop with our love, thoughts and prayers. We have lost a treasured family member but, Connie, you will never be forgotten.”

May she rest in peace.
