THE Group 3 winner Gustavus Weston is the latest addition to the Goffs Champions Sale which takes place before racing at Leopardstown next Saturday.

Believed by connections to be a Group 1 sprinter in the making, the Joe Murphy-trained son of Equiano won the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the Curragh last month.

Gustavus Weston joins Zarzyni, a Group 3-placed two-year-old son of Siyouni from the Aga Khan, and the Joseph O’Brien-trained Group 3 winner Waitingfortheday in the line-up for next Saturday’s boutique sale, the final entries for which will be announced early next week.

Trained by Michael Halford and rated 102, Zarzyni won his maiden at Gowran Park in June before being placed in the Group 3 Tyros Stakes and most recently running a close fourth in the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes last week at the Curragh.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained Waitingfortheday, a daughter of Elzaam, landed the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Fairy Bridge Stakes last Thursday week at Tipperary just ahead of Group 1 winner Skitter Scatter.

A seven-time winner, Waitingfortheday was victorious at the Curragh and the Galway Festival during the summer, and was runner up in the Listed Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes at Killarney prior to her Group 3 success.

Held in association with Brown Thomas, the Goffs Champions Sale will take place in the Leopardstown winners’ enclosure before racing. The select catalogue is due to be published next Monday.
