JUST five horses have been accepted for today’s Goffs Champions Sale at Leopardstown, which takes place at 12.30pm in the parade ring.

Last year’s sale was topped by the mare Cimeara, who fetched €500,000, and another filly could head today’s trade. Joseph O’Brien’s Group 3 winner Waitingfortheday has won three races already this season and she is being sold with an entry in Sunday’s Group 2 Blandford Stakes at the Curragh.

Also for sale is Gustavus Weston, a three-year-old gelding who won a Group 3 sprint at the Curragh last month for trainer Joe Murphy.

The Aga Khan has always been a good supporter of this sale and sends the two-year-old colt Zarzyni, winner of a Gowran Park maiden for trainer Michael Halford.

Two recent winners trained in West Cork by John Murphy – Think Big and War Diary – complete the select catalogue.

Lot 1: War Diary

Imposing individual who won a mile and half Premier Handicap at the Curragh in June before being placed in a €65,000 contest at Galway

Lot 2: Zarzyni

Looks a high-class international racing prospect after following up his maiden win in June with placings in two Group 3 races at the Curragh and Leopardstown

Lot 3: Waitingfortheday

Group 3 winner on her latest start, accounting for Group 1 winner Skitter Scatter. A hugely consistent and improving filly.

Lot 4: Gustavus Weston

Winner of the Group 3 Phoenix Stakes last month and believed by connections to be a Group 1 sprinter in the making.

Lot 5: Think Big

Maiden winner in July who caught the eye when finishing fastest of all in the Listed Roses Stakes last month at York
