THE former Champion Hurdler, Constitution Hill had little difficulty in making it two from two on the flat in front of a large mid-week crowd at Kempton.

The gelding, sent off a 1/7, settled mid-field in the eight-runner mile and a half novice stakes and Ryan Moore pulled him out to challenge two out. He quickened nicely in what a slower run race and hit the front a furlong out and came home two lengths clear of second favourite Classical Allusion without having to be touched with the whip.

The crowd was over 1,400 compared to a regular figure of around 400.

Ryan Moore said: "I think the horse enjoyed his runs on the flat. He moved well and I think there's a bit more improvement to come from him so be happy with that." On what level he could compete at, Moore said, "We don't know, we'll know more on his next run. I think he's very comfortable at 12 (furlongs).

Nicky Henderson said afterwards on RacingTV: "The main thing I liked was that Ryan said he was enjoying himself - a lot. That's important."

"He thinks that a mile and a half is as far as he needs to go, he's not a big slow old jumper. He's deceptive in his size and he looked big today too. We'll sit down and have a think. There's a lot of relief, its been a funny old few days for us. One of his sparring partners (Sir Gino) who was here at Christmas, isn't."

"At least we are finding something that as a nine-year-old he can enjoy, it's wonderful that people want to enjoy it. These old horses do become favourites and the crowd here tonight, it means a lot."

Paddy Power make the nine-year-old the favourite for the Ebor Handicap at York in August.
