A tentative vote goes to Toto Too, making his hurdles debut for Peter Fahey. The son of Ocovango finished second first time up in a Galway bumper and didn’t need to improve much from that effort to win at Killarney last month. A return to slightly better ground should suit him and, pending he takes to hurdling well, he should be thereabouts.

Gordon Elliott has won the last three renewals of this contest and relies of Faux Fur, another hurdles debutant. She showed good form on her second and third starts but she was a little bit disappointing on her latest start at Galway. If you put a line through that effort, she should go well, while Willie Mullins’s Ivana is an obvious danger too. She disappointed in flat maidens recently but won her bumper at Limerick in May and can do better now over hurdles.

Nyiri may be able to score on just his second start in Ireland. A recruit from David Cottin for Willie Mullins, the four-year-old acquitted himself well when fourth to Suprise Package at Cork, as having a received a conscientious ride on his first start in 110 days, he finished in and around older horses that are respectably rated. He will receive 7lb in weight from Amir Kabir and that may prove significant.

Gordon Elliott’s horse ran creditably to be ninth in the Galway Hurdle, so his mark of 135 looks accurate. If he can run to that standard, he could be difficult to beat.

Banntown Girl should go well after a decent effort on the flat at Tramore - third to Filey Bay - and a reasonable comeback run at Galway, when seventh to A Law Of Her Own. This contest will not be as hot as that latter-mentioned heat and she should strip fitter now, considering she was coming off a 92-day break then. She also ran very well when third to Ballybawn Belter in the Paddy Mullins Mares Handicap Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival.

Ricky Langford has won two of his previous three starts over hurdles and he looked as good as ever over fences lately, when running a close third to Good As Hell at Kilbeggan.

His mark of 97 over hurdles, although up 13lb since his win at Wexford four starts back, is still actually 5lb lower than his chase rating and 2lb less than when third to Clarens on his previous run over this course and distance.

In what is a very competitive contest, a tentative vote goes to Mr Macphisto. Eoin Griffin’s gelding comes into this off a good effort to finish second to Sheer Bravado at Cork in July which was a big improvement from his previous run - his first in 244 days. He remains lightly raced and if he can step forward again, he should get involved.

Breagagh is another to consider. He has been running reasonably well in defeat on both the flat and over hurdles recently. He had no chance taking on the well punted Anyway at Downpatrick on his penultimate start and prior to that he had gone close to winning a mile handicap at Naas. Only One Plan has been consistent ever since he finished second to Herculaneum at Naas in March and considering he is only 12lb higher now, he should be able to run well again.

Be My Hero may be able to get off the mark on the back of good effort at Bellewstown. Gordon Elliott’s gelding came home strongly when failing by just a head to Applejack Poet. His ability to stay strongly over this trip at this grade should suit him around this track.

Banada Bridge is another who comes into this off a close miss, having finished third to No Show at Wexford earlier this month. She has some decent form in her book, having finished third to Gaoth Chuil at Leopardstown last March, but the worry is that she has yet to put two good runs together. Bowgate Street is a four-year-old filly taking on her elders and the geldings here but she did a fair job of that when fourth at Ballinrobe recently and she should strip fitter now.

Arabian Diamond is taken to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at Sligo. He was hauled in late by Sequestered on that occasion but prior to that he ran really well at Galway, when fourth to High Class Hero, which came after an impressive bumper win at Sligo. He is worth another chance now and may benefit from having a more delayed effort.

Sign From Above should run well. Peter Fahey’s gelding is coming in off a win on the flat at Galway, where he got the better of Longclaw in a one-mile-six-furlong handicap. He has run well in maiden hurdles before, notably finishing fourth to High Definition at Leopardstown last season.

Sea Road Phil can get his head in front after two solid efforts in defeat. Edward O’Grady’s gelding found only Fizzle Rock too good in a Sligo maiden hurdle and was only two lengths off the well handicapped Brideswell Lad in a Wexford handicap hurdle. He has every chance of stepping forward again and if the ground goes soft, it could help him even more - his half brother Poetic Rhythm won a Challow Hurdle on heavy.

Sixhandsinmypocket has also been running well, most notably on his penultimate start when he got within two lengths of Gorgeous Suspect at Limerick. He followed that up by finishing third to No Thanks at Ballinrobe. A consistent performer, he should run well again.

This can go to Meet My Loreley, who will have learned plenty from her first track experience when third at Wexford. Her rider reported she ran green there, on what was her first start in 236 days, but she showed plenty of ability on what was her first start for Barry Connell. Previously, she showed a good level in point-to-points and in a Thurles bumper for Hugh Finnegan and she may be able to kick on now.

Charming Fortune, making his track debut for Gavin Cromwell, is another to note. He finished second at Lingstown on his sole point-to-point start before selling for £120,000 and Patrick Mullins has been booked to ride.
