THE real work at the new Curragh Racecourse will only begin after the ribbon has been cut on the redevelopment. That was one of the key points made by guest speaker John Osborne at the Moyglare Dinner.

Challenging the Turf Club and the sport’s other administrators to examine their attitudes towards racegoers and enthusiasts, Osborne said: “We are on the cusp of a major redevelopment of the Curragh. The new racecourse must signal a new era for Irish racing and that is a big challenge. The Curragh is the ‘Home of the Classics’ but is it the heart of the sport?”
