I’ve heard a lot on the Gigginstown/Gordon Elliott domination of the big handicap chases in Ireland, but I’ve never heard someone suggest there was an integrity issue at stake, as did trainer Henry Daly speaking on Racing UK’s Luck On Sunday programme yesterday morning.

“It can’t be right, for the integrity of racing, that this can happen,” said Daly regarding yesterday’s Troytown Chase. I lost it in translation whether he was referring to Gigginstown solely or Gordon solely or indeed both, as it is often the case that the pair overlap with runners in these races. With regard to yesterday’s big race, Gigginstown had seven runners in total while Gordon has 12, four of which overlapped between the pair.
