Millstreet hosting 2016 World Mounted Games
on 05 February 2016
The Mounted Games World Team Championships will be held at the Green Glens Arena, Co Cork from July 11th-15th

THE Mounted Games Association of Ireland (MGAI) will host the prestigious 30th annual Mounted Games World Team Championships (WTC) for 2016 in the Milstreet Green Glens Arena, Co Cork from July 11th-15th.

Mounted Games is a branch of equestrian sport in which 31 different games are played by people of all ages, on ponies up to a height of 15hh. The Games are a true test of horsemanship, skill and speed. Mounted Games is exhilarating to watch and is a spectacle at many top international shows including the Royal Windsor Horse Show, Horse of The Year Show (HOYS) and the Dublin Horse Show at the RDS.

IRISH SUCCESS

Last year, the WTC were held in the Rolex Arena at The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington where the Irish team were reserve champions. MGAI has a relatively small membership compared to other nations but currently rank first in the world standings due to their international success in 2015.

The Irish team took home the reserve title in both the World and European Team Championships, Ireland also found success in the World Pairs Championships and European Individual Championships claiming gold medals in both.

Trials and team selection for the Irish teams to compete in the championships will take place in April bringing riders from all over Ireland to claim team spots to represent their country on home turf.
