MEHMAS will stand at Tally-Ho Stud in Mullingar, Co Westmeath next year.

Stud owners Tony and Anne O’Callaghan have purchased a 50% share in the dual Group 2 winner, who finished second to Churchill in last Sunday’s Group 1 Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at the Curragh.

Trained by Richard Hannon for Al Shaqab Racing, Mehmas is likely to have his final start in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes in Newmarket on Saturday week, September 24th.

By Acclamation, Mehmas has raced seven times this season and has never been out of the first two. He finished second to Caravaggio in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot before winning the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket and the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood.

Tally-Ho manager Roger O’Callaghan said: “His good looks and superb attitude on the racecourse were a huge attribute to him as he embarks on his new career as a stallion.”

The Tally-Ho stallion roster also includes this year’s first season sensation Sir Prancealot.
