THE first autumn point-to-point campaign was held in 2001, mainly in response to the curtailment caused to the sport that spring by the foot and mouth crisis.

Twenty-four meetings were held, starting at Limavady on Saturday, September 29th and ending at Taylorstown on Saturday, November 24th. In fact, of the two dozen fixtures, eight took place in the northern region, nine in the eastern, five in the southern and two in the western.
