2.25 Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden 6f 60yds

A wide draw in stall 17 makes Blame Thechampagne’s task much tougher than ideal, but she looks the most talented of these rivals and might be able to overcome her starting position. This represents a marked drop in class from when catching the eye with a promising fifth in Group 3 company at Naas last month.

Ger Lyons was among the two-year-old winners this week and his representative Dandy Lichious ran respectably on his Dundalk debut back in March.

Provided he has gone the right way since that fifth-placed effort, he shouldn’t be far away from a decent draw in stall five.

SELECTION: BLAME THECHAMPAGNE

Next best: Dandy Lichious

3.00 Pat Smullen Handicap 6f 60yds

Coumshingaun has won around here before and wasn’t beaten far in a big-field handicap on her last start at the Curragh when fourth. Kevin Coleman has his string in decent order and this sprint handicapper’s previous form suggests she is on a competitive mark at present.

Elmo Lincoln has raised his game since switching to handicap company and, being by Bungle Inthejungle, could well appreciate the drop back to this trip from a mile. He’s 3lb out of the handicap but this level of contest has the potential to suit him well and he might be an each-way price.

SELECTION: COUMSHINGAUN

Next best: Elmo Lincoln

3.35 Shay Rooney Handicap 7f

Andrew Slattery has been enjoying an excellent start to the season and has another live chance in the shape of Rock Etoile, who could be up to defying a 6lb rise for his recent Killarney win. This ground has the potential to be slightly quicker than ideal for him but he’s probably versatile enough and the track shouldn’t inconvenience him.

Dazzling Spirit was extremely progressive last season and should still be capable of having a say off top-weight here if back in the same form. At a likely big price, Wee Pablo is handicapped to win one of these and has a lovely draw in stall one.

SELECTION: ROCK ETOILE

Next best: Wee Pablo

4.10 Anglo Printers Remembering John H. Kierans Fillies & Mares Maiden 1m

Phases Of Venus didn’t run badly when fourth behind a pretty classy type at Gowran last week and the experience of that effort should stand to her in an open-looking affair. Trained by Paddy Twomey, she has a solid draw to work with in stall six and there’s every chance this trip will be her optimum.

Hotaugustnight raised her game when third in a Curragh maiden last week and looks to be in calmer waters now. She should be on the premises again and is open to improvement as an unexposed type.

SELECTION: PHASES OF VENUS

Next best: Hotaugustnight

4.45 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Race 1m

He has blotted his copybook on a couple of occasions in blacktype company but Tiverton looks the most talented of these five runners. He’s been gelded since we’ve last seen him and that might help him to go the right way. He also represents a Dermot Weld team in excellent form at present and has won at the course before.

Grey Leader is upped in class after winning nicely enough at Gowran in April. He and Roman Hands aren’t well treated in the weights in comparison to the selection but they are relatively unexposed types with the chance to progress. The latter being refitted with cheekpieces, and a tongue-tie being applied for the first-time, could see him in a decent light.

SELECTION: TIVERTON

Next best: Roman Hands

5.15 John Thomas McNamara Handicap 1m

Alfarida showed a terrific attitude when winning a similar event at Roscommon on Thursday and should have a solid chance of following up under a 7lb penalty if none the worse for those exertions. She is proven on a decent surface and looks progressive while remaining in the basement level of handicap company.

Water Mint took a step in the right direction last time and should be thereabouts again, while Sunday Evening is bred to be a fair deal better than a mark of 58 and might be a different proposition on handicap debut with cheekpieces fitted for the first time.

SELECTION: ALFARIDA

Next best: Sunday Evening

5.50 Oliver Broderick Maiden 1m

Fernao probably bumped into a useful type, who also got first run on him, last time when runner-up at Killarney. This looks a decent chance for him to get off the mark at the third attempt, following back-to-back second-placed efforts.

Unterberg hasn’t been seen since January but showed some ability on the all-weather and might prove a better type now a four-year-old.

SELECTION: FERNAO

Next best: Unterberg
