SUNDAY’S finale, the Grade 2 Coolmore N.H. Sires Los Angeles Irish EBF Mares Bumper, provided the most memorable final 100 yards of the day. Finny Maguire travelled with supreme ease turning for home on Martin Hassett’s 20/1 shot Moonverrin, virtually hacking past the 9/4 favourite, while Tiktok Casey (28/1) stuck doggedly to her task behind her.
Having been out of contention and struggling on the home turn, Stuart Crawford’s Royal Hillsborough then powered up with a strong challenge as Moonverrin hung towards the stands. Maguire’s mount regained concentration, but the deciding factor was Royal Hillsborough’s rider Stephen Connor mistaking the 50-yard marker for the winning post.
