AS of 6pm last night Joseph O’Brien was one winner away from training his 1,500th winner (worldwide) and he will have achieved it faster than any other trainer in the history of Irish racing. He trained his first winner in June 2016. Talk The Talk was his 1,498th winner at Leopardstown last Sunday and he had another at Dundalk yesterday. On the flat he has trained 1,012 winners and his tally under National Hunt rules is 487.

FAIRYHOUSE is working with its race sponsors to give a €500 prize to the breeder of every pattern race winner at the track this year, if the horse is Irish-bred. Margaret McKenna, breeder of Oldschool Outlaw, became the first recipient of the breeder’s prize following the BetVictor Solerina Mares’ Novice Hurdle on Tuesday.
