La Hacienda (5.30 Leopardstown) is in great form. She won well the last day (Kingdom Gold Cup) and I thought she was idling in front. She’s only a small filly, but she’s tough and she’s genuine and she is improving and has really come to herself this year. We worked her in blinkers for the first time the other day and she worked really well. Hopefully that will bring about more improvement.

One Cool Poet (5.30 Leopardstown) is showing us the signs that he’s back to himself. I thought he ran a cracker for his second of three runs Galway. He just couldn’t get a clear run but I thought he ran a great race to finish fifth. The ground was gone for him then on the Saturday. We’d be hopeful he could run another big race.

Master Matt (Leopardstown 2.05) has a nice draw, if he behaves himself. He seemed a bit happier over seven furlongs the last day. He travelled a lot sweeter and he’s won over that distance before.

Kojin (5.30 Leopardstown) has a nice chance. The step back up to this trip is going to be a real help to him. The trip was plenty short for him the last day at Clonmel and he found loads late on to win. He probably has a tricky enough draw, he’s out wide, but I think he’ll run a huge race.

Since Galway, the Northfields has been the plan for Soaring Monarch (5.20 Curragh). The little step up in trip will help him and the ground is going to be the slow side of good which should suit him so I’m really looking forward to him running.

Disco Boots has got into the same race. When we stepped her up in trip the last day I thought she was really impressive. If the ground comes up soft, I think it will really suit her. The two of them have great chances.

As It Was goes for the Tattersalls Super Auction (4.45 Curragh). She won well first time out and then she ran on easy ground in the Ballyhane and that didn’t seem to suit her. She probably did a bit too much earlier but she didn’t seem to act on the ground, and then she came back and won on quick ground at Navan. We would be another we’d be worried about the ground. If the ground goes easy or soft, it will probably be detrimental to her chances but there is great prize money here and she has two wins to her name already

We left Continue Apace in as well, for the prize money really. When I saw there was only 14 in, I thought I might as well, but he’s just about ready to start.

It was always the plan to get The Highway Rat back for the Flying Five (2.25 Curragh). He desperately needed the run in the Aberqwuan at Tipperary. He got obstructed in the first furlong so his race was basically over as early as that but I think we achieved our aim of getting him to have a blow out.

Our main concern is the ground, he’s done most of his racing at Dundalk and while I have no fear of grass, I’m not sure about him on soft. He’s such a good-moving horse and such a fast horse, so soft ground would be a complete unknown to him.
