WEEK three of the Easter Tour at Sentower Park, Opglabbeek, Belgium, saw Cashel pilot Max Wachman just miss the podium in Saturday’s CSI3* 1.50m qualifier with the Ita Brennan-bred Kilkenny (Cardento). The pair were one of eight combinations to make the jump-off, their second clear in 37.98 good enough for fourth.

Ioli Mytilineou (GRE) took first prize with Por Favor Van ‘T Roosakker (For Pleasure), the duo having more than two seconds in hand on the rest of the field with a blistering time of 35.32 seconds. Eve Jobs (USA) and Canto Bruno (Cantoblanco) were second and Andres Vereecke (BEL) and Baya de Riverland (Bresil de Riverland) were third.

Wachman also went double clear in Sunday’s CSI3* 1.45m two-phase special with the Denis Hickey-bred GRS Lady Amaro (Amaretto D Arco) to finish 11th and, later, had another double clear in the 1.40m two-phase special with Crack Bel Z (Con Air) to finish 10th.

Jeremy Sweetnam and Chuflay (Cornet Obolensky) were seventh in the Aloga Auction CSI3* 1.55m class, which was won by Harrie Smolders and Deesse de Kerglenn. Wachman and Fancy de Kergane were 14th in this class, after a pole down denied them entry to the jump-off. Another Irish result of note at this event came from Daniel Fitzgerald who won Saturday’s six-bar class with Classic.
